Who Should Pursue the CCMA?

If you’re new to the contract management profession, this certification is an ideal starting point. If you’ve already prepared based on CMS v3, consider the Commercial and Contract Management Associate certification instead.

  • Professionals with a 4-year degree and less than one year of contract management experience
  • Buyers and sellers with at least one year of experience but without a degree
  • Those interested in understanding how buyer and seller actions impact each other
  • Anyone seeking a foundation in the contract life cycle

Eligibility Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree OR one year of work experience in contract management or a related field
  • International degrees must be evaluated by a third party such as WES, Scholaro, GCS, Info Check USA, or SpanTran
  • Minimum of 40 CPE/CLP hours (see CPE Guide for details)

Application Process & Fees

Submit your online application by March 31, 2026, including:

  • College/university transcripts (if applicable)
  • Work experience documentation (CV, resume, or employer records)
  • Proof of at least 40 CPE/CLP hours
  • Application fee: $90 (NCMA members), $295 (nonmembers)

Applications are reviewed within 15 business days. Approved candidates have one year and three attempts to pass the exam.

  • NCMA Membership is NOT required to apply, obtain, or maintain certification
  • After March 31, 2026, CCMA applications will close; candidates must transition to the Commercial and Contract Management Associate certification

  2. Choose one of the following:
    • Click “New Application” for the certification you’re applying for
    • If updating an existing certification, click it in the menu
  3. Follow the tabs and instructions to complete your application

Exam Process & Fees

Exams are scheduled through Kryterion. You select date, time, and location based on your zip code. Exam fees: $135 (U.S./Canada), $160 (International). Retests incur the same fee. Rescheduling within 72 hours: $100 (domestic) / $130 (international).

Recertification

At the end of your 3-year certification cycle, you will transition to the Commercial and Contract Management Associate certification. Learn more about recertification requirements.
