FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ASHBURN, VA — The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) has been awarded a “Power of A” Gold Award from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for its Contract Management Leadership Development Program (CMLDP). ASAE members represent 7,400 associations of all types, making this recognition for NCMA especially noteworthy.

Launched in 2006, NCMA’s CMLDP is designed to help develop the next generation of leaders within the contracting community. This highly competitive program includes intensive educational course work as well as in-person leadership training from professional experts, career guidance from senior-level mentors, and networking opportunities with senior leaders from both government and industry.

“We're proud to be awarded this great honor by ASAE, and the recognition is even more gratifying given the impact the program has on graduate’s ability to serve the American mission," said NCMA President Melissa Starinsky.

NCMA CEO Kraig Conrad, CAE added "The CMLDP program reach is multiplied many times as graduates go on to lead teams and positively influence how others serve. And, this honor is a testament to our Board of Directors’ level of investment in building the next generation of leaders in the contracting community."

Awardees were judged on three criteria:

  • Reach of Project or Program: Award-winning entries must offer original or effective solutions to today’s societal or business problems.
  • Embodying the Power of Associations: Award-winning entries must effectively showcase how associations strengthen society through volunteerism, education, social responsibility, innovation, research and problem solving.
  • Objectives and Outcomes: Award-winning entries must generate results that achieve the association’s defined and measurable objectives.

CMLDP is a 10-month program. After a two-month application and interview vetting process, approximately 24 students are selected. The ideal CMLDP applicant is an NCMA member who desires a leadership role in the contract management profession.
