Learn the fundamentals of negotiation and explore strategies for achieving optimal outcomes in various contexts in the workplace. This Star Trek-themed session will address different negotiating styles and techniques through the use of different characters and real-time situations that are applicable in a contracting environment. Further topics that will be addressed include the definition and importance of negotiation, different types of negotiations (e.g., distributive vs. integrative), and most critically, the elements of effective negotiation: preparation, communication, and flexibility.
