Communities of Practice

Communities of Practice are groups of members with a common interest in a particular area/issue who seek to share ideas, leverage connections and conversations, and be solution makers. Communities are chaired by at least one NCMA member. Communities have dedicated discussion threads, libraries, and meetings to connect you with others who share common interests.

Interested in joining?

Take a look at the communities listed below and click the "Update your Profile" button to make your selection. You will be prompted to log in to your account. Once you are logged in, click on "Membership" in the left-hand menu, scroll down to the Communities of Practice section, then check the box next to the community you would like to join and click "Save". Once you've selected a Community of Practice, you're all set! You will have access to the community via Collaborate featuring dedicated discussion boards, document libraries and member meetings.

Cybersecurity

Rising attacks and the importance of protecting critical IP drives the imperative to strengthen cybersecurity is in all agency and industry organizations. This Community will explore the program and procurement elements that support more resilient and protected systems.

Sustainable U.S. Procurement

Leading organizations already have moved out on climate change and sustainable procurement efforts, and other G7 countries are ahead of the U.S. in policy and practice. This Community will help shape what practice will look like in Federal procurement.

Make Your First Post!

After you join a Community of Practice it may take up to 24 hours before you have access to the community in Collaborate.

After 24 hours, log in to the Collaborate to make your first post! You will be prompted to log in to your account if you are not logged in already.

Once on the main home page for Collaborate, select the Communities drop-down menu.  Next, select My Communities. All the communities you are a member of will appear in alphabetical order. 

Here are some ways to engage with the discussion board

• Post a question or an article to get others thinking and connecting around the Community topic you are interested in or would like to know more about.
• Set up an event to connect virtually or in-person. You could even plan to meet up at an upcoming NCMA event.
• Respond to a post by sharing your best practices, thoughts, opinions, or strategies to solve a problem that may help a fellow NCMA member.
