Dear Members
We’re highlighting this column because its message is so important to building a strong, effective, diverse NCMA leadership team. Please consider volunteering for a National Committee post. – Amanda Christian, Past National President
Six Amazing Opportunities for You in National Governance
As NCMA President Wendy Masiello wrote in her Dear Readers column in the September 2022 issue of Contract Management, “The route to NCMA leadership runs through service to our association.” One of our key opportunities for service is to volunteer for a two-year term as a member of one of the NCMA National Board Committees.
As Past National President I know and appreciate just how important our National Board Committees are. These committees are vital to the NCMA governance process and help ensure we implement and execute the strategy adopted by the Board of Directors. NCMA benefits from the diverse perspectives of members selected from across the association, so we’re actively seeking those members with a desire to create a lasting impact.
We need your involvement.
You can be an important part of NCMA’s national-level governance team during Program Year 2024. We anticipate six openings across our five National Board Committees. I appeal to you to consider submitting a statement of interest indicating your willingness to serve.
The six open seats cross all five of our committees: Professional Development & Certification, Member Engagement, Audit & Risk, Governance & Ethics, and Strategic Planning. I encourage you to take a moment to visit www.ncmahq.org/soi to learn more about each of the committees, and to identify where you think your talents and interests could best be applied.
The Statement of Interest submission period opened October 11, 2022, and closes November 15, 2022. Your submitted statements of interest will be reviewed prior to the voting period, which runs from February 1 through February 15, 2023. Once the voting period is complete and the candidates have been selected, the NCMA community will be notified in April. Here’s the full schedule for filling the open committee seats.
· Acceptance of Forms: October 11 – November 15
· Review of Candidates: November 15 –- January 2023
· Voting Period: February 1 – February 15
· Notification of Selected Parties: April 2023
I encourage you to consider submitting a Statement of Interest and serving on a National Board Committee. Key reasons to serve include:
1. The opportunity to make a lasting impact on NCMA.
2. The ability to work with and get to know many of your colleagues and the National Board members.
3. And as a national committee member, hotel, travel, and food expenses for committee meetings, which are typically centered around major national conferences, are covered by NCMA.
To learn more about the process or gain access to the interest form please visit www.ncmahq.org/soi. As always, feel free to contact the NCMA Member Services Desk at 800-344-8096 or use the orange “Support” button found on the bottom left corner of our homepage at www.ncmahq.org.
I personally encourage all NCMA members to consider serving at the national level. It’s a rewarding experience, and it offers you the ability to make a difference in our profession. My best wishes to all of you as you consider which committees you’d like to serve on! On behalf of the NCMA team, I look forward to seeing your applications!
